Managed GitLab FAQ

How do backups work?

All of our included backups are sent to AWS S3 object storage or Google Cloud Object Storage. Database and App backups are stored for 30 days in readily accessible storage, beyond 30 days up to 90 days data is archived. For extended backup policies, please contact us directly.

Can I use my own backup environment?

Yes, we can backup to your own cloud object storage environment if its supported by GitLab.  

How do you secure my instance?

All of our GitLab instances utilize encrypted storage and archives, enable SSL/TLS for data in transit, and utilize NextGen virtual firewalls with advanced policies in place. 

What does onboarding include?

Our team can help with migration efforts from GitHub or GitLab, help applying licenses for premium and ultimate users, custom URLs, and more.  Onboarding support requires at least a 1 year commitment.

GitLab Runners FAQ

Are there multiple versions of OS runners?

We follow support standards that GitLab has for the last 2 major releases (ie: 13.x, 12.x).  Currently we support the following OS versions:

  • Windows Server ver. 1809+
  • FreeBSD (Stable 12 + 13)
  • MacOS (Intel + Apple M Processors)
  • CentOS 7, 8
  • RHEL 7,8,9 (FIPS Support)
  • Debian Buster, Bullseye
  • Ubuntu Bionic, Focal
  • Fedora 34, 35

Are there network ingress/egress fees?

It depends on where you are building and deploying software. If you are deploying using a private GitLab instance managed by our team, then ingress/egress fees are included. Transfers exceeding 5Gb will have network transfer fees.

Are discounts available for yearly commitments?

Yes. We can provide 10-20% discounts depending on instance sizes and regions.

Can I register the runners with instances outside of alphacloud?

Yes. You can register your instances with GitLab SaaS or private GitLab instances outside of our networks. Be aware that you will pay for ingress/egress charges once you exceed the transfer limits.
